The Selby Trust is a registered charity and a community business with expertise in providing affordable community facilities for the third sector and reaching historically excluded communities.
As the Honorary Treasurer, you are well supported by the Chief Executive and advice from the independent chartered accountancy firm which undertakes our quarterly management accounts and prepares our year-end accounts for audit by another chartered accountancy firm in line with charity law. We are currently exploring social investment opportunities and would welcome applications from those with experience and interest in this area.
You are likely to have a background in Finance, Strategy and Governance, Fundraising, Legal, Risk Management.
The role of Honorary Treasurer involves:
Receiving information to be able to examine and convey information about the charity’s finances and reports to the Board and CEO regarding cash-flow forecasting, income streams, out-going expenses and the overarching strategic management of the rganization’s financial resources.
Have a good insight into the charity’s financial risk-management process and report financial health to the board of trustees at regular intervals.
Acts as a counter signatory on payments and funding applications and ensure that annual accounts are submitted to all relevant regulators in a timely fashion.
Liaising with external auditors on financial issues and ensuring that the organsiation’s finances are responsibly managed/invested for the good of the rganization’s work and for the organisation it serves.
You would need to commit to approximately six early evening meetings a year and an occasional planning days and other organisational events. The positions are voluntary and travel expenses can be reimbursed.
