If you’re aged 18 or over and have little or no experience using computers and other digital devices or have low digital skills, you can join our FREE Computing and IT skills programme, taking place during Autumn 2024 and Winter 2024/25.

These courses will give you the essential digital understanding you need for work and everyday life, such as using a computer or other digital devices, and staying safe online.

ICT for Beginners  

Start your digital journey with our ICT for Beginners session. This course is perfect for those who are completely new to computers and devices and want to learn how to use them in a simple and friendly way. We’ll help you get comfortable with understanding basic technology. Gain the skills needed to navigate everyday tasks with confidence.

Learning Highlights:

  • Turning on a computer and using basic controls like a mouse and keyboard.

  • Navigating the home screen and finding applications.

  • Connecting to the internet safely and securely.

  • Understanding how to search for information online.

Introduction to Online Services

Discover how to make use of the digital space with online services. This session will show you how to use the internet to access essential services, shop online, and manage everyday tasks. It’s designed to help you feel more independent and confident in using digital tools. You'll learn how to access helpful services from your computer or mobile device.

  • Introduction to setting up online accounts for government services, banking, and shopping.

  • Filling out online forms and making payments.

  • Using search engines to find reliable information.

  • Learning to organize and manage information stored online.

Basic email skills

Learn how to stay in touch through email in our Basic Email Skills session. We’ll teach you what you need to know to send and receive emails, keep your messages safe, and even share photos and documents. This session will make communicating online simple and secure.

  • Setting up and using an email account.

  • Writing, sending, and replying to emails.

  • Adding attachments like photos and documents to emails.

  • Understanding email security and how to avoid phishing scams.
